Redesign of Concept and Mechanism, Development for production, Packaging Design
in short
MOKKA is a mechanically dimmable lamp made from coffee and bamboo. It’s outer straps are made from coffee grounds and it’s inner structure is made from bamboo. These two materials form a solid yet sustainable whole with a natural feel.
Define
Analysing the current design
Coffee Based asked me to make their concept for a mechanically dimmable lamp work. So I started this project with analyzing the problem and making a plan to re-engineer its structure and mechanism.

Design
Solving the problems
After analyzing the problems I used sketching as a tool to explore the problems and to come up with different sollutions. During this proces I was constantly prototyping to test and iterate my ideas. For these prototypes I used mainly lasercutting.
develop
Towards the final design
The development of the final model was all about figuring out just right dimensions and proportions.
Deliver
Packaging design
Next to re-engineering the design I also helped Coffee Based with the branding for this product: Coming up with a name, writing the story of the lamp and designing the packaging of the lamp.
