UX Design and web design

in short

The design I did for Lab Coat Fitness was one of my first freelance projects. As one of the founders was a good friend and fellow enthusiast in urban sports he trusted me to help them design their first website. Their goal was to create a platform for a fitness approach based on science. They were committed to creating a community that focuses on mutual support, rewarding you for your contributions to ensuring that money is not a barrier to their success. Over the years they already gained following in online communities so now it was the time to reach out and start creating.

Getting to know the user

I started this project with research on the market and research on LCF. In order to create a strong market position it was important to understand the competitors and understand the target group. This would allow LCF to develop a platform that would get their knowledge and training across in the most effective way.

The design process

To come to a final design I worked structurally per page. Figuring out the purpose of a particular page, it’s sub-functions and the way it should be structured. In determining the structure I first looked at what was needed to fulfill the page purpose and how it was done best. I began with wire frames to determine the layout and than used the blocks design to get an impression of composition and contrast.

Final designs

To create the final designs I used a style framework to maintain consistency by reusing certain elements and colors. In this iterative process I constantly implemented the conclusions drawn from feedback discussions. Finally leading to five complete web pages ready for front-end development.
